Titanic Lifeboat
Two of these
boats were built for the 'Titanic' attraction at the 20th Century Fox
theme park in Sydney Australia. They are not replicas of real lifeboats.
Rather, they were specially designed for the attraction to float in a
very shallow concrete ocean, inside a building. They are capable of carrying
44 adults and float in 6 inches of water! They were built very wide for
stability, as the people enter on one side and exit the other when the
ride is over. They incorporate double bottoms for structural rigidity
and for floatation tanks should water some how come aboard. The construction
of these boats appear as traditional but use modern adhesives and marine
plywood. The underwater portions of the hulls are wrapped in fiberglass
set in epoxy resin, assuring a leak proof hull, with good abrasion resistance.
